DETROIT – June 30, 2015 – The Quicken Loans Technology Center, a state-of-the-art 66,000 square-foot data center and office complex, held its grand opening today, offering tours of the space to government officials, business leaders, and media. The Technology Center is located at 1401 Rosa Parks Boulevard in Detroit’s up-and-coming Corktown neighborhood.

The new facility features two 10,000 square-foot server rooms in addition to training, office, and support space. Half of the data center is occupied by members of Quicken Loans’ technology team. An equal-sized 33,000 square-foot portion of the building, including the second 10,000 square-foot server room, is available for lease.

“The Quicken Loans Technology Center is another building block in Detroit’s tech-driven comeback,” said Linglong He, Quicken Loans Chief Information Officer. “The facility is a testament to the investment and innovation Quicken Loans puts into everything we do and provides us the resources we need to continue to grow well in to the future.”

Each item in the Quicken Loans Technology Center was engineered, designed or selected by Quicken Loans’ technology team. From the electrical systems and fit and finish of the server cabinets, to the color and length of the cabling, everything is customized to meet the specific needs of the team managing the Technology Center.

In addition, the facility features:

  • Indirect air conditioning units (IACU) employing large heat wheels to cool the servers without actually bringing outside air into the room. No water is used to cool the facility.
  • Uninterrupted power supply (UPS) units featuring the first deployment of the 750kva units in the U.S. These systems are backed up by 2.5 megawatt generators.
  • LED illuminated server rooms.
  • Biometric readers, facial scanners and a snow melt system in the rear utility yard.

The facility’s office areas were created by dPop, the Detroit-based design firm, to give the Technology Center a high-tech, but fun and productive atmosphere.
