Four Montgomery County golf courses to host a month-long charity campaign leading up to the Quicken Loans National

Washington, D.C. (May 16, 2016) – The Quicken Loans National is taking over the driving ranges of four public golf courses in Montgomery County, Md., to give fans the opportunity to take a “Shot for Heroes” to raise money for veterans and military families – and maybe even earn themselves a nice little payday.

Beginning May 21 and continuing every Saturday and Sunday leading up to the Quicken Loans National from June 23-26, golfers at each of the participating golf courses can stand over an approximately 100-yard shot and take two swings for charity at no cost to themselves. Any shot resulting in a hole-in-one will produce a $10,000 charitable donation from Quicken Loans and a matching check to the lucky golfer.

Quicken Loans will also donate $10 for every participant and $100 for each shot that lands within 16 feet of the hole. All proceeds will benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation and Operation Homefront.

“We’re expecting a large turnout from fans who not only love golf, but share our passion in supporting our brave veterans and active-duty service members,” said Art Steiber, Quicken Loans Vice President of Marketing and Sponsorships. “Even if you are not an accomplished golfer, just stepping up to the tee earns $10 toward charity to support our military and their very deserving families.”

Each weekend, the one golfer who is lucky enough to make a hole-in-one, or the player who puts it closest to the pin, will earn an invitation to the Quicken Loans National for a special meet and greet with PGA TOUR pro Rickie Fowler and will take home autographed memorabilia.

The competition each Saturday and Sunday will run from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. The dates and course locations are as follows:

  • May 21-22: Falls Road Golf Course (10800 Falls Rd, Potomac, MD 20854)
  • May 28-29: Northwest Golf Course (15711 Layhill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20906)
  • June 4-5: Needwood Golf Course (6724 Needwood Rd, Derwood, MD 20855)
  • June 11-12: Little Bennett Golf Course (25900 Prescott Rd, Clarksburg, MD 20871)
  • June 18-19: Falls Road Golf Course (10800 Falls Rd, Potomac, MD 20854)

Shot for Heroes will continue for all fans during Quicken Loans National tournament week via a special 60-yard hole set up on site at Congressional Country Club.

At last year’s Quicken Loans National, Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler and nearly 2,000 fans participated in the Shot for Heroes program, which raised $235,000 to benefit the Military Warriors Support Foundation.

Shot for Heroes won’t be the only opportunity for fans to win money at the tournament. Quicken Loans is also bringing back its Million Dollar Hole-In-One Sweepstakes, which will award one entrant $1 million if a PGA TOUR pro aces the par-3 10th hole during tournament play.

To be eligible for the Quicken Loans Hole-In-One Sweepstakes, entrants must be 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen. To enter, visit www.PGATOUR.com/QuickenLoans.
